Coexistence with Nature

Sagawa Express is engaged in forest conservation activities that help absorb CO₂ emissions generated through business operations such as truck transportation. In collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including local citizens, educational institutions such as universities, and experts, we are working to restore satoyama woodlands, where people and nature coexist, based on a long-term vision symbolized by the phrase “100 years” and on a timescale that extends far into the future.
In addition, we continuously provide nature-based learning opportunities for children, who will lead the next generation, with the aim of helping them understand the connection between nature and people through firsthand experiences in satoyama environments. These activities include nature experience programs for elementary school students and biodiversity surveys conducted by junior high and high school students, offering opportunities for people of all ages to learn while engaging with nature.

Takao 100-Year Forest Project

Sagawa Forestry , which owns and manages forests primarily consisting of Japanese cedar and cypress trees in Kochi and Tokushima Prefectures, is engaged in forest conservation projects with the mission of “protecting the forest cycle” as its highest priority. In addition to appropriate harvesting and reforestation as well as enhancing forest carbon sequestration, the company promotes the creation of a “second forest” through the use of timber in urban areas.
In particular, by promoting the use of wood in Group facilities and offices, including interior wood construction projects, Sagawa Forestry contributes to the sustainable supply of timber resources and the preservation of the natural environment while helping maintain the forest cycle.
As part of these efforts, World Supply collaborated with Sagawa Forestry to incorporate wood into one of its reception rooms. Tables and wall decorations made from thinned cypress wood were introduced, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere that allows visitors to experience the comfort and beauty of natural wood.
In addition, we utilize carbon credits (*J-Credits) generated from forests to partially offset CO₂ emissions associated with the Group’s business activities.
