[Sagawa Global Logistics] Sagawa Express Vietnam commences door-to-door delivery service in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (2/1/2012)

Sagawa Global Logistics Co., Ltd., which offers international logistics services as a member of SG Holdings Group, announces that Sagawa Express Vietnam Co., Ltd., its subsidiary in Vietnam, is commencing door-to-door delivery service in the country.

Since 1997, Sagawa Express Vietnam has been providing truck transport service throughout Vietnam, using mainly reserved trucks. Now, the company is commencing door-to-door delivery service in Hanoi, the capital located in the north of the country, and in Ho Chi Minh City, a commercial center situated in the nation's south. This is the first time for a Japanese logistics company to offer such a service in Vietnam. This new effort enables Sagawa Express Vietnam to provide in this economically fast-growing country the same high-quality logistics services as in Japan, including provision of cargo tracking information and reliable lead time.

Promoting efforts toward a market economy under its government's leadership, Vietnam continues to achieve high economic growth due to the increase in exports by foreign corporations. While the country is often considered to be the No. 1 candidate location for a "China plus one" strategy, domestic demand has been growing steadily in recent years, led mainly by increased personal consumption. As many Japanese firms have high interest in Vietnam, the country is expected to become an important production base in Asia, along with China, Thailand and Indonesia. Accordingly, domestic logistics demand is expected to continue to expand further.

Sagawa Express Vietnam commenced trial operations of its new door-to-door delivery service on February 1, 2012, to be followed by the launch of official operations on March 1. The company also plans to start this service in Da Nang in the second quarter of 2012 and sequentially in other cities, aiming to establish a delivery network covering the entire country in the future.

In October 2011, staff were newly dispatched from Japan to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City respectively for the preparation of the launch of the new door-to-door delivery service, including training of Sagawa's sales drivers. Sagawa Global Logistics has already started operating door-to-door delivery services in China (Shanghai and Guangzhou). Based on its experiences through such business operations, the company aims to offer in Vietnam the same transport quality as in Japan, through establishing a training program to ensure safe driving with due consideration of local traffic conditions, careful handling of cargo and punctuality.

With fourteen years of experience since its establishment in 1997, Sagawa Express Vietnam is determined to offer secure and reliable services by incorporating Sagawa's door-to-door delivery service know-how into its already established locally-oriented services.
