(7/24/2008) SAGAWA EXPRESS has won a contract with the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) to operate an international courier service, one of the services provided at Japan House* in Beijing during the Olympic Games in August. Since March 2003 SAGAWA EXPRESS, serving as JOC's official environmental partner, has supported Japanese athletes participating in Olympic Games. SAGAWA has also provided logistics services in delivering tickets for the Beijing Olympic Games (from Beijing to Narita Airport) and in transporting official supplies for the Japanese delegates. SAGAWA staff members will be stationed full time at the international courier service counter, to provide courier service for Japanese delegates as well as for supporters and spectators from Japan. The Group has also expanded its business both in Japan and overseas, focusing on Eastern Asia and ASEAN countries. In China, notably, Shanghai Dazhong Sagawa Logistics Co., Ltd. was established in 2003 as the first courier service company in the country, and Sagawa Global Logistics signed a tie-up agreement in 2006 with China Courier Service Corporation, a subsidiary of China Post, for international courier service between Japan and China. * Japan House : a facility run by the JOC outside the Olympic Village to support various activities of the Japanese delegates. The House will also be open to the public for the first time, to offer various services to sports organizations, athletes and spectators from Japan. At Japan House, booths will also be run for promotion activities of JOC's sponsors and a campaign to invite the 2016 Olympic Games to Tokyo.
