[Sagawa Financial] Online Payment Service, a Bill Collection Service for Mail-Order Businesses, Will Start.
- Covering payments for sale of digital content and consolidating complicated payment-related transactions - (2/18/2008)
Sagawa Financial Co., Ltd., a member of SG Holdings Group, will launch a comprehensive Online Payment Service enabling mail-order businesses to offer their customers the following three payment options for purchase of goods and services: 1. online payment by credit card, 2. convenience store-online payment, and 3. payment of invoices at a convenience store.
Online Payment Service features an efficient payment system for mail-order business operations and bill collection services. This payment service can be used for payments for sale of digital content and provision of various services that do not involve physical delivery of goods. While the service can meet the diverse needs of shoppers for payment options, including online payment by credit card and payment at a convenience store, it can also handle various transactions related to bill collection for mail-order businesses, including matching payments received against amounts billed to customers and settling accounts. By using this service, mail-order companies can consolidate all complicated payment-related transactions to make their business operations simpler, more convenient and efficient so that they can focus on core competencies such as sales promotion and product development.
Prior to launching this service on April 1, we will begin receiving applications on March 3.

  • Online payment by credit card
  • This payment option enables purchasers to enjoy not only online shopping but also catalog shopping, using any of 5 major international credit card brands of their choice: VISA, MasterCard, JCB, American Express or Diners Club.
  • Convenience store-online payment
  • This payment option enables purchasers to pay at the cash register at a convenience store by presenting a payment number issued online or a receipt printed out after entering such number into the terminal at a convenience store. The Company has partnered with 9 convenience store chains, the industry's largest number, which allows purchasers to pay at a convenience store of their choice.
  • Payment of invoices at a convenience store
  • This payment option enables purchasers to pay for an invoice at any of 41,000 stores of contracting convenience store chains in Japan simply by presenting an invoice to the cashier. If an invoice is sent with goods, purchasers can pay after checking the goods.
Taking the launch of this new service as an opportunity, Sagawa Financial Co., Ltd. will shift its business domain from transport-related services to bill collection services. The Company will focus on providing a payment service platform that can improve the operational efficiency of mail-order businesses. Moreover, the Company will gradually enhance its service menu so as to evolve into an organization that can provide an infrastructure capable of tracking and controlling the flow of funds and information, seamlessly connecting sellers and consumers.
As a first step in that direction, the Company will introduce a payment service related to sales of digital content and provision of various services that do not involve physical delivery of goods. Through the launch of this service, Sagawa Financial Co., Ltd. will lay the foundation to become a full-service bill collection company that can meet diverse needs for payment options for sales of products and provision of services. At the same time, the Company will begin developing its unique business domain.
