[Sagawa Express] Service Offering Security and Reliability
"Addressee Identification Delivery Service" Launched
Package addressees are identified by inputting password to mobile terminal.(10/22/2007) |
 |
| On October 21, Sagawa Express Co., Ltd. launched its Addressee Identification Delivery Service. |
 |
| Increasing use of the Internet has been accompanied by a surge in the number of Internet crimes, such as credit card fraud and Internet auction fraud. As a result, there has been great demand by businesses for heightened security and a safer transaction environment in the courier service. Delivery procedures are no exception. The need for addressee identification is growing, as exemplified by such client queries as "We want the package to be delivered only to the intended addressee" and "What procedure was followed in identifying the addressee?" |
 |
Our new service, the Addressee Identification Delivery Service, is first in the courier industry to employ a procedure for correctly identifying addressees, ensuring safe and secure delivery of packages.
In this Service, upon delivery we ask the recipient to present a publicly issued certificate, so as to compare the name on it with that written on the delivery slip. In addition, to ensure double security, we ask the recipient to input a password, sent in advance from the addresser to the addressee, to a mobile terminal carried by our sales driver, so that the recipient is clearly identified as the intended addressee. This service thereby offers safety and reliability to our clients. |
 |
| The Addressee Identification Delivery Service is outlined as follows: |
 |
| (1) |
Set up a password between sender and recipient in advance. |
| (2) |
At the time of delivery, the recipient presents a publicly issued certificate that confirms recipient's name and address. |
| (3) |
The sales driver visually compares the name and address on the certificate with that shown on the package. |
| (4) |
Following name/address comparison, the verification result is input to the credit card settlement terminal used in our COD service "e-collect."
| * |
Personal information, such as numbers on the certificate, is not input. Only the verification result (whether the name and address on the certificate match those written on the delivery slip attached to the package) is input into the terminal. |
|
| (5) |
The recipient inputs the password set up in advance. |
| (6) |
The package is handed to the recipient only when the input information (password) is accepted.
| * |
The Service requires an additional 200 yen/package over regular delivery charges. |
| * |
To use the Service, shipment data must be exchanged between sender and us. |
|
