[Sagawa Express] Large Logistics Facility "Sagawa Express Kitakyushu Center" to Open
- Will Enhance Logistics Infrastructure between Kyushu and Rest of Japan -(10/16/2007) |

Sagawa Express Co., Ltd. has established Sagawa Express Kitakyushu Center, a large logistics facility with three functions: intermediate processing (collecting and sorting), pickup/delivery and distribution processing of packages shipped from and delivered to the Kyushu region. The Center will commence operation on October 21, 2007.
Purpose of Sagawa Express Kitakyushu Center
Many industrial complexes are located in the Kyushu region, where numerous companies of various business categories are expanding their business. As well, numerous mail-order companies are extensively promoting their business activities in this region. Given these circumstances, our transaction volume of packages shipped from/arriving in the Kyushu region has been increasing, mainly as regards packages between businesses (B to B) and mail-order goods (B to C).
To meet the logistics needs in this region, we have established Sagawa Express Kitakyushu Center in the Kitakyushu area, a gateway to Kyushu, and will commence operation there on October 21, 2007. The Center is designed to further enhance our transportation efficiency in terms of packages shipped from/arriving in Kyushu by taking advantage of Kitakyushu’s much-improved transportation infrastructures comprising the land route (Kyushu Expressway and Higashikyushu Expressway), sea route (Port of Kanda, Port of Kitakyushu etc.) and air route (New Kitakyushu Airport).
We will provide total logistics solutions to meet a variety of distribution needs for packages from/to Kyushu by using the overall capability of our group companies, including Galaxy Airlines Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ota Ward, Tokyo; President: Teruo Wakasa), which launched air freight service between New Kitakyushu Airport and Haneda Airport in October 2006.

Packages sent from Kyushu to the rest of Japan are collected at the Sagawa Express Kitakyushu Center. They are then sorted by destination and delivered to various regions, such as Kansai, Chukyo etc.
Likewise, at the Center, packages arriving in Kyushu from the rest of Japan are also collected and sorted by sales office to deliver to each area in Kyushu. |

Pickup and delivery function [Sales office (Kanda sales office) (3F)] |

The Kanda sales office, to be newly established within the Center, will be in charge of pickup and delivery in Kitakyushu City (Kokura Minami Ward), Yukuhashi City, Miyako-gun and Chikujo-gun (Chikujo-machi). |

Distribution processing (Third Party Logistics) [Shipping storage (3F and 4F)] |

A shipping storage facility will be established on the premises of the Center, to provide distribution processing services by collectively supporting distribution processes, from receipt of packages, attaching price tags and inspection, to packing and shipping.
In addition, for packages shipped from storage in the Center, delivery procedures will be carried out by a sales office located on the premises. This will shorten delivery time and enable evening pickup and delivery. |

Use of aerial transportation [Galaxy Airlines] |

The Center’s proximity to New Kitakyushu Airport will considerably shorten delivery time. For example, it will enable next-day delivery from Kyushu to the Tokyo metropolitan area, through collaboration with Galaxy Airlines, which operates midnight airfreight services between New Kitakyushu Airport and Haneda Airport. |

Environmental measures [photovoltaic power generation system] |

A photovoltaic power generation system (60 kW) installed within the Center will generate no carbon dioxide, or any other environmentally harmful materials, in generating electric power.
(The system will be installed at a total of 19 sites in our facilities. *As of October 21, the system is the first such system installed in our distribution hub center.) |
