- Greater ease and convenience in using our payment-on-delivery service -(5/29/2007) |
 |
With the aim of improving customers convenience in paying for goods, Sagawa Financial Co., Ltd. will introduce a contactless IC settlement service, called QUICPay™ (promoted by JCB Co., Ltd. and other organizations), as a new payment option for e-Collect, our payment-on-delivery service. This settlement service, which uses a postpay method promoted by the Mobile Payment Promotion Association, is scheduled to begin on Sunday, July 1, 2007.
For the time being, we will provide this service only in 23 wards in Tokyo, where electronic money is likely to become a widespread phenomenon and commonplace sight more quickly than in other areas, by installing a total of 4,000 new-type card payment terminals compatible with QUICPay™ (produced by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.) at Sagawa Express service offices covering 23 wards.
By introducing this service we will provide customers with added convenience; they will be able to choose electronic money as a new payment option for e-Collect, in addition to the current cash, credit card and debit card options. |
 |
In 2000, we introduced the industry's first payment-on-delivery service, called e-Collect, enabling customers to choose to pay by cash, credit card or debit card (cash card) when our sales drivers deliver goods to them.
Since then, we have continued to lead the industry by launching first-in-the-industry services one after another, such as accepting installment, revolving and lump-sum bonus payments, so as to increase convenience for shippers and users.
The introduction of QUICPay™ as our new service is our effort to readily meet the needs of customers who wish to pay by mobile phone with Osaifu-Keitai® (mobile wallet) and other electronic money functions.

Since commencement of the e-Collect service in 2000, annual settlement amount through this service has been experiencing a robust year-on-year increase of about 20%, while the mail order market has been rapidly expanding by over 10% annually. During fiscal 2006, the e-Collect service continued to grow steadily, the total number of delivered packages through the e-Collect service standing at 83.848 million (119.9% of the previous fiscal year) and the total settlement amount topping the 1 trillion yen mark to reach \1,015,476,000,000 (114.6% of the previous fiscal year).
We will continue to offer shippers and users more useful services for an increasing number of delivered packages, as well as settlement amounts, in the expanding mail order market. |
