| [Sagawa Global Express] Tie-Up with a subsidiary of China Post for international parcel services between Japan and China. (12/18/2006) |
| Sagawa Global Express has reached an agreement with China Courier Service Corporation, the subsidiary of China Post, on international parcel business operations between Japan and China. |
Based on this agreement, both companies will provide competitive delivery services, utilizing their resources, such as China Post's 66,000 bases, 50,000 trucks, and 400,000 staff in China and Sagawa Express's 500 bases and 20,000 trucks in Japan. Also, a system to share freight data will be established, to allow the status of cargo, such as import and export customs clearance or deliver, to be checked from wither company's website. Parcels sent from Japan to China will be branded as "sgx" and those from China to Japan will be branded as "China Express". The main target will be business parcels and general cargo. |
| The trial for parcels from China will commence at the end of December 2006, originally from Shanghai, with future expansion to handle parcels from Beijing and Guangzhou. Formal operations from Japan are scheduled to commence next spring, after a trial period as well. |
